Build your own independent consultancy practice with training from the IIB

The Institute for Independent Business is a not-for-profit education, research, training and accreditation organisation. Established in 1984, its mission was to publish vital information and provide access to assistance from specialist advisers, to support the needs of independent businesses. Research at the time and since then consistently shows that most business owners/managers of small to medium sized businesses are concerned that they may lack the knowledge, skills, experience or time to be effective in every key aspect of running their businesses, as well as lacking the right contacts and resources required to maintain and grow them.

To address these fundamental needs the Institute created a unique business diploma course - the Consultancy Business Development Programme (CBDP). This enables highly skilled and experienced business executives to develop their own independent consultancy businesses specifically to help and advise smaller businesses.

Only successful graduates from the CBDP receive accreditation from the Institute, and only Executive Associates (signified by AInstIB ) are permitted to offer the IIB Business Support Programme™.

The IIB Business Support Programme™ was designed by the Institute to enable businesses to benefit from support that is tailored to their needs, and based on a proven system and methodology. It has since helped many thousands of independent businesses to achieve significant results.

Critical to success is successful implementation of any improvement or change programmes, requiring the skills and resources of trained and accredited advisors to assist independent business Managing Directors/Owners (MDOs). Since 1991 thousands of senior business professionals from more than 28 countries have graduated from the Institute's Residential Business School and have been accredited by the Institute. The Institute supports graduates - the IIB Alumni™ - by facilitating the collaboration of Executive Associates, encouraging Continuous Personal Development (CPD), and setting standards of Professional Conduct required through its Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct.

There are very few skills and specialities that are not covered by this vast worldwide network, and Executive Associates have become a unique, exclusive global community of knowledge, skills, experience, who provide the talent resources and contacts enabling independent businesses worldwide to benefit from valuable support and practical advice that works™.

The CPD of Executive Associates is provided by IIB Regional Groups (constituted and approved by the Institute), as well as by training courses, internal publications, and an interactive web-based extranet and communication system.

Some graduates of the Consultancy Business Development Programme go on to enhance their knowledge and qualifications by using CBDP credits towards an Oxford (UK) based university Masters Degree (Global MBA) with its special emphasis on mentoring and business support.
